Abstract

The development of digital technology has shaped the learning patterns and social relationships of the younger generation, thereby demanding that the church reconstruct its catechetical approach, which has thus far relied on face-to-face methods. This research aims to formulate a hybrid catechesis model as a strategy for faith formation among the younger generation through the integration of digital learning and communal encounters. The study employs a qualitative approach with theological discourse analysis, utilizing a literature review of the past ten years and semi-structured interviews with pastors and catechesis participants. The findings indicate that digital learning enhances flexibility, access to materials, and learning autonomy, particularly for participants with time and mobility constraints. However, online learning cannot fully replace the relational and spiritual dimensions that are formed in face-to-face meetings. Therefore, the integration of both through a hybrid catechesis model emerges as the most relevant approach, as it is able to combine digital flexibility with the depth of communal relationships. The novelty of this research lies in the formulation of a hybrid catechesis model that is pedagogically and theologically constructed within the ecclesiastical context—not merely as a combination of methods, but as an ecosystem of faith formation that is adaptive to digital culture while remaining rooted in the communal practices of the church.
