Coping Skills; AI Chatbot; Academic Performance.Abstract
Students in their final academic stage face academic demands that may affect their ability to cope with pressure and their academic achievement. The increasing use of AI Chatbots for academic activities also raises questions regarding their relationship with students’ academic performance. This study aims to analyse the effect of coping skills and AI Chatbot utilisation on the academic performance of Accounting students at public universities in Malang. This quantitative study involved 207 students selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and Grade Point Average (GPA), then analysed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 26. The results show that coping skills have no effect on students’ academic performance, with a t-value of -1.043 and p-value of 0.298. AI Chatbot utilisation also has no effect on academic performance, with a t-value of 0.066 and p-value of 0.947. The simultaneous test produced an F-value of 0.974 with a p-value of 0.379. The R² value of 0.009 indicates that coping skills and AI Chatbot utilisation explain only 0.9% of the variation in academic performance. Students’ academic performance is therefore not determined by coping skills and AI Chatbot utilisation, either individually or simultaneously, indicating that other factors contribute to academic achievement.
