PENGARUH KOMUNIKASI DAN PENGAMBILAN KEPUTUSAN SEBAGAI BAGIAN GAYA KEPEMIMPINAN TERHADAP KINERJA KARYAWAN DI PT BOGATAMA MARINUSA MAKASSAR

Abstract

In fisheries-processing companies, how well a leader carries out two central leadership functions  engaging in communication with staff and making operational calls  largely determines how employees perform. This study set out to test whether leaders' communication and decision-making, taken separately and together, affect employee performance at PT Bogatama Marinusa Makassar. A survey-based, quantitative associative design was employed, involving 30 employees chosen through purposive sampling. A five-point Likert questionnaire supplied the data, which were processed with multiple linear regression in SPSS 26 after passing validity, reliability, and classical-assumption checks. Findings indicate that communication contributes a positive, significant effect on performance (t = 7.387; sig. = 0.000), as does decision-making (t = 2.967; sig. = 0.006). Taken together, the two variables significantly shape employee performance (F = 41.066; sig. = 0.000), accounting for 75.3% of its variance (R² = 0.753); the remaining 24.7% stems from factors this model does not capture. Overall, the results point to open two-way communication and employee participation in decisions as two mutually reinforcing pillars of leadership style behind stronger performance in fisheries processing.
