Abstract

This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution of pineapple production in Pemalang Regency using a Geographic Information System (GIS) based on data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) for 2023. Pineapple production data by sub-district were integrated with spatial administrative boundary data to produce thematic maps illustrating production levels in each area. The results indicate that pineapple production in Pemalang Regency is uneven and concentrated in only six sub-districts, namely Belik, Moga, Pulosari, Warungpring, Watukumpul, and Randudongkal. These sub-districts are located in the southern region, characterized by hilly topography, porous soil conditions, and agroclimatic suitability that supports horticultural crop cultivation. In contrast, the central and northern regions show no pineapple production, which is presumably influenced by limited agricultural land and the dominance of land use for settlements and non-agricultural activities. The application of GIS has proven effective in providing informative spatial visualization and identifying distribution patterns of pineapple commodities. These findings are expected to support local government planning in developing pineapple production centers and optimizing horticultural commodities in Pemalang Regency.
