Abstract

Rapid technological developments have brought many changes in children’s behavioral patterns, especially in the way they play. One of the emerging phenomena is the tendency of elementary school children to spend more and more time playing online games. This study aims to determine the negative impact of online game addiction on children’s interest in learning at the elementary school level. The research method used is a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques carried out in class IV of MIN Sibuhuan. The results of the study indicate that online game addiction has a significant impact on reducing students’ interest in learning, causing behavioral changes, and disrupting concentration and learning motivation. This study recommends the need for active involvement from parents, teachers, and the school environment in controlling the use of online games by children.
