Analisis Isi Pesan Moral Wayang Golek “Rahwana Pejah” Di Channel Dian Records

Wayang golek is a traditional Sundanese puppet performance from West Java using wooden puppets to tell stories. Beyond entertainment, it conveys moral values, social messages, and cultural preservation. The “Rahwana Pejah” story, adapted from Ramayana, depicts the final conflict between Rama and Rahwana symbolizing the battle between good and evil. Performed by maestro Asep Sunandar Sunarya on Dian Records’ YouTube channel, it blends traditional narration, humor, social critique, and improvisation relevant to modern life. This study aims to identify moral messages and religious values in the performance using a qualitative descriptive approach and Holsti’s content analysis. Primary data were obtained from audiovisual recordings, supported by relevant literature. Data collection involved observation, literature review, and documentation. Findings reveal that wayang golek serves not only as entertainment but also as an educational medium conveying religious values and moral messages such as ethics, monotheism, and warnings against arrogance. This confirms wayang golek’s role in cultural preservation and moral education in the digital era.
