Pemanfaatan Cangkang Telur dan Sosialisasi Sedekah Sampah Sebagai Upaya Pengelolaan Limbah di Dukuh Sawo

Abstract

The accumulation of household waste both organic and inorganic is one of the environmental issues that has not yet been optimally managed in Dukuh Sawo, Sumberharjo Village, Prambanan Subdistrict, Sleman Regency. This community service activity aims to provide education and guidance on household waste management through two approaches: training on the use of eggshell powder as plant fertilizer, with target participants including women from the PKK (Family Welfare Movement) in RT 04, RT 05, and RT 06 of Dukuh Sawo; Meanwhile, outreach, education, and guidance on forming a “Waste Donation Group” were provided to all residents of Dukuh Sawo. The method for producing eggshell flour consisted of an outreach and information session, followed by a demonstration and training on processing eggshells into flour. As for the waste donation initiative, it consists of outreach and guidance on forming waste donation groups, supported by the provision of trash bins for sorting plastic bottles. The eggshell processing training was held on July 30, 2026, while the waste donation outreach session took place on August 13, 2026. The outcomes of the activity included an increase in participants’ understanding and skills in recognizing the potential of eggshells as a material that can be utilized for plants, as well as the availability of eggshell flour as an example of a processed product. Regarding inorganic waste management, the activity resulted in a plan to form a “Waste Donation Group” and the provision of facilities for sorting plastic bottles as a first step toward sustainable waste management at the hamlet level.
